The Carrick Fox Room

A delightful room, bedded with a double and a single to make this a great option for parents with a young child. The room is dedicated to John’s great aunt, Ethel Carrick Fox, the famous post impressionist artist who was active throughout the early part of the twentieth century. The house as a whole features examples of her paintings but this room pays special homage. Touches of art nouveau echo her work and her era. The outlook takes in the garden and there is a feature wash unit with the private shower room just a fifteen second walk up the hallway.

We stayed at Carrick’s on Christmas Eve and Christmas day as we were visiting family in the area. We had no idea it was going to be so luxurious. We stayed in the newly converted barn which is a huge studio apartment with kitchen, wood burning stove, huge bed, luxury bathroom and loads of privacy. There are loads of little touches which make this a 5 star place to stay. Cowshed toiletries, wood for the stove, amazing breakfast, and Jean who is so helpful and friendly. She even provided a beautifully decorated Christmas tree which made it feel really Christmassy. This is within walking distance of Darby’s pub, and we walked to my parent’s house at the other end of the village and back without any problems. We will be back to try out some of the other rooms.
